I have two applets underneath Smart Blogs – CNN’s Education news feed and Technorati’s latest posts on education. The Quick and the Ed tells us that the CNN feed is probably in its final twitchy throes:
“Cnn.com has revamped its site, including a shakeup of its front-page news categories. “Education” has traditionally had its own spot, usually–this being America–near the bottom under Celebrity News, but still on par with Science, Health, etc.
Well, no more. Education has been nixed as stand-alone category and has been replaced by “Funny News.” As of this writing, 2:20 PM EDT, the two stories in this new category are:
“Stealing Another Man’s Wife Costs $4,802”
and
The Quicksters’ one-liner sums this up well:
As a wise man once said, it’s not that you can’t make this stuff up, it’s that you wish you had to.
Too true. We’ll see if this affects their RSS feed for education stories. This is sad commentary on the state of education news. I like Larry the Cable Guy, but c’mon.
I don’t care who y’are, this ain’t funny.

Are you kidding me? I am a high school govt. teacher in Las Vegas Nevada and my students would watch CNN Student News on a daily basis. The 10 minute clips were all these students would ever get in the way of national news. You have done a great diservice to education and have taken away a useful tool from teachers. I’am sure your viewers who log on to read Larry the Cable Guy’s editorials are just the type of readers CNN is looking for. Fear not however I will find another venue for my students to get the latest news in the classroom without the help of CNN.
