Books That Make You Think

Published by Matthew K. Tabor August 3rd, 2007 in Everything Else

I’ve gotten roughly 10 billion e-mails/calls/IMs/pigeon posts about the content of my site being… missing. The header and sidebars load properly but the content is a big white blank. A sincere thanks to those who were looking out - unless I load the site every 15 minutes, there’s no way for me to know when it happens. It’s a real pain.

My host gave me 5 or 6 different explanations. It turns out that the real culprit is the “Latest Posts on Education” Technorati feed on my right sidebar. When that feed goes down - Technorati’s problem, not mine - my site encounters the error and stops loading. It doesn’t skip over that part and load the rest of the site. It just quits. The header and sidebars load before the content; that’s why the result is that charming arch of design guarding a ton of empty white space.

I guess I’ll have to disable the feed for now. I hate you, Technorati. Keep your feed up.

On top of this, I need to fix the search function. I could live without these problems.
