I wrote in something of a cold fury two days ago:

'The education community is morally bankrupt and socially destructive, apparently by intention.'

Let me apologize, and revise that irresponsible statement. Obviously, there are many educators who take their moral responsibilities seriously. The last line in my comments above should read:

Much of the education community is morally bankrupt and socially destructive, apparently by intention.

Best regards, Peter Warner.

Thank you Matthew for your excellent article, and helpful explanation of AERA. My only quibble is the feeling that you're being too kind to Bill Ayers and the Weather Underground. You wrote early in the piece: 'No innocents were killed by Weathermen bombs', but recently testimony has come to light presenting evidence that the Weather Underground murdered Sgt. Brian McDonnel:

http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2009/03/breaking-bill-ayers-accused-of-bombing.html

The fact that the Weather Underground did not kill dozens or more is only due to their incompetence, not to any lack of intention. They declared war on the United States of America, and they worked to destroy it.

As you mentioned, three Weatherman members shredded themselves into pieces when the massive bombs they were packing with nails in preparation for a military dance fortunately detonated prematurely, denying them the sick pleasure of slaughtering dozens. This report, including a signed statement from a colleague who was actually an undercover FBI agent at the time in question, is explicit and damning:

http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/the-op-ed-the-new-york-times-wouldnt-run/2/

Larry Grathwohl testified in an op-ed that was submitted to (but refused publication by) the New York Times:
Quote:
Bernardine Dorhn, Bill Ayers, and the other people I would meet had as their sole purpose the destruction of the United States... Bill is simply not being truthful and is rewriting history to reflect a completely different role for himself and the Weather Underground from what actually took place. “Bring the war home, kill your parents” was the mantra being chanted when the group decided to go underground in December 1969 and there certainly isn’t anything anti-war in that statement. I’m also curious as to who is debating their status. When I think about the Weather Underground my immediate thought is “terrorism and death.”

...The explosion of the townhouse in Greenwich Village was the result of a bomb factory which was preparing bombs containing roofing nails for use at a Fort Dix enlisted club. The inclusion of roofing nails can have but one purpose and that’s to injure or kill people. Prior to this event Bill’s wife, Bernardine Dorhn, placed a bomb of the same design at the Park Police Station in San Francisco and killed Officer McDonnell. Additionally, I was still inside the Weather Underground when the townhouse blew up and the commitment to sabotage and terrorism had already been established and the purpose was the overthrow of the United States government.

Ayers famously admitted guilt when he quipped 'guilty as sin, free as a bird, what a country':

In spite of all this, William Ayers is revered in the education community, and has been rewarded with a position of leadership in curriculum design. The education community is morally bankrupt and socially destructive, apparently by intention.

Best regards, Peter Warner.

I purposely went into this article because I cannot for the life of me understand why this Bill Ayers was allowed to go free--and on top of all of his past activities, he and his wife, I guess, are on Obama's list of friends and supporters, and to add insult to injury, both are leaders in education fields today. This information about the past activities of the WU, etc., is so troubling. Americans should not have to deal with all of the issues about Bill Ayers and his wife--we have enough of other issues.

B. Johnson,

You bet. You bet, you bet, you bet.

It's shocking how many people in education support Ayers without having any clue what he's done for the last 40 years - and especially in the last 15.

I can't understand how people like Bill Ayers can get away with the things he has AND nobody on the left is outraged by it. If Senator McCain had an association such as this, it would be the biggest story every night on NBC. I am absolutey afraid of what will become of this country if Obama wins this election. I appreciate your information on this website. I am going to send this to my Grandmother. I can't get her to see how scary it will be to have Obama for President. Maybe this will help.

Rasta Cyborg,

Any time I can take someone with a name like "Rasta Cyborg" out of society for 10 minutes, I consider it a success. That's how fascists like me roll, playa.

Thanks for stopping by!

Don’t you wanna just tousle the little scamp’s hair?

Isn't that really your entire point? I read the entire article, but after re-reading the first sentence I realized that that was all I had needed to read. There go 10 minutes that I won't get back.
